To the editor,

We have to stand behind this old house – the MacLellan House on East River Road – that has so much history around it, we cannot keep tearing down all these beautiful houses just because of the cost. The cost will be higher when we strip all memories of the past from our town, these old places makes our town charming and interesting.

This house was built 1822 by Donald MacLellan, he was the son of John MacLellan who was born in Scotland and was among the settlers who came to Pictou County aboard The Ship Hector. They think that the stones comes from Scotland. We can't keep tearing down our past it is like erasing our past. Let's stand together on this and speak up loud. Let the MacLellan house stand proud.

And where are we going to find the money to make such buildings as these "stand proud"? Governments at all levels are living way beyond their abilities to pay. I, for one, do not want to see any more of our tax dollars spent to rehabilitate structures that have already seen their best before date. My opinion only.
