Work will begin this week on 180 new parking spaces for the Aberdeen Hospital.
Pictou Centre MLA Pat Dunn toured the sight Monday morning. The news spots will replace the 100 parking places lost when the hospital constructed its helipad last year.
Dunn says he was thrilled to see work beginning on Monday.
"It's good to see the work being done - and the key thing is that the green space at Glen Haven was preserved."
It's expected that work will begin today clear cutting the site behind the rear parking lot at the hospital. In total, the new lot will span 1.25 acres, stretching from a few meters from the helipad to Glen Haven.

perhaps if the clinic hours on monday and tuesday were spread out or staggered it would help, but apparently this would take too much thought.

I can't explain the parking problem today, I just know I couldn't get a parking spot there this morning. I tried all parking areas, there were no empty parking spots and there were cars illegally parked all oer the place. Guess it was just a busy day there. I'm glad to see something is being done about it.

I don't see how there was a problem with parking today as the staff were all directed to park in the church parking lot across the road to make room for patient parking while the construction is taking place.

I agree with frustrated. I was there too with a patient and had to park illegally. BTW I also had to avoid two cars going out the in gate behind the hospital. Bravo to PCHA employee who parked across the street. If you were one of the many employees who go to their cars for a smoke at least you were legal today. Many ignore the rules and smoke on Hosp. property.

This can't happen soon enough!! I was accompanying my parent with cancer to the hospital this morning and was unable to find any parking at the Hospital. It was very frustrating!!
