MOUNT WILLIAM - The Mount William landfill site is still waiting to send recyclables to an alternative location within the province.
Representatives for the site have yet to hear back on a new Scotia Recycling location, but shipping should begin "hopefully within the next few days," said Carol MacKenzie, manager of waste diversion.
Blue bags are still being collected from residences and businesses.
"We're trying to keep business as close to normal as possible."
The site has been collecting recyclables since Scotia Recycling's location in Stellarton was destroyed by fire May 2.
Before the fire, the landfill site did not accept recyclables.
A storage facility, which is usually empty, now holds a mountain of recyclables from both residential and small commercial users - from the past two weeks.
Larger businesses have been transporting their recyclables, such as cardboard, directly to a recycling plant in Truro, said MacKenzie.
She said the added costs for Mount William to begin shipping to an alternate facility are not yet known.
But for now, regular pick-up and the spring clean-up will continue.
"It's business as usual."

if they are in in a usually empty facility at the landfill, just stay there where it should have been in the first place, who wants to see that m ess in ht e middle of town !!!!It costs enough out of the consumers pocket to do the recycleing for them, why must we have to look at it every day??
