PICTOU In 12 years, the Pictou Weekend Market has come a long way.
Its manager, Joyce Battist, said in that time it's gone from a "bare-bones craft market" to an entire curling arena so full of booths and products, that she says, "if you wanted a foot of space (for rental), you couldn't actually fit it in there."
This year there are a number of new additions to the market, which will open June 23 and run Saturdays and Sundays until Sept. 23, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. (It will also open July 24 and 25, when the tall ships are in town).
New this year are a wide variety of products, including gourmet bread from Sackville, organic vegetables, Faberge eggs.
"And we'll have the Bavarian meat shop, Graham Family Farms they were there last year, a new leather booth, which is something we haven't had before," Battist said.
"There's a tremendous amount of really good vendors in there."
"For the first time in 12 years, we have no room." But that's only on the inside of the Caledonia curling club. Outside, Battist said the market is still looking for vendors, only those selling fresh fruits, vegetables, or anything from the sea, to set up outside. Those interested in setting up an outside booth at the market may call 485-6329.
"There's so much new this year, you can't describe how it's going to look.
