The Crushers lost their second of three games to the Halifax Lions at home last night during Game 3 of the seven-game series.

It’s not the way Coach Troy Dumville wants to see his team playing in playoffs.

“We’ve got to play our best to win in the playoffs and we didn’t do it tonight. That’s what it comes down to,” he said. “We let them off the hook again. We know we have to play physical. We played physical for half a game. That doesn’t get it done.”

The player who Dumville was most proud of was Michael Hynes.

“Mike Hynes was unbelievable tonight finishing checks,” he said. “Five-foot, nine, 165 pounds and he showed more guts than any of our players. That tells a tale right there. We need the big guys to look at a guy like Mike Hynes. He’s probably our most skilled hockey player, and he’s the one that led the team in hits tonight.”

Dumville said he wants to see the guys playing more like they did in Game 2 in Halifax.

“We’ve got to come out and play physical and defensive hockey and if we don’t compete we don’t win. That’s what happened tonight. We didn’t compete for 60 minutes,” he said.

The Crushers will be playing Halifax again on Friday night on the road.

“Friday night it’s not going to be easy,” Dumville said. “We need to go into that barn again and win. We need to compete harder than we did tonight.”

Assistant captain Dan Joyce said the guys for the most part played a good game last night but a couple lapses in the second period cost them. It seemed as hard as they tried, they just couldn’t score too.

“We were bouncing pucks all over the place, but that stuff happens in playoffs,” he said.

They’re going to have to regroup for Friday he knows.

“When we lost the first game we knew we had to come back in the next game harder,” he said.

They’ll have to bring that same approach for the next game.

“Down 2-1 going into their barn we know we have to come away with a win,” he said. “We don’t want to be down 3-1 coming back here facing elimination.”

For the most part he believes they will have to play the same style of game they have been.

“We’re playing hard, it’s just things aren’t going our way right now,” Joyce said. “We’re making a couple mental mistakes that we just can’t make in playoff time right now.”

It would appear that if you score a goal for the Crushers, you get benched. I don't recall seeing Ben Cameron on the ice again after he scored our only goal. It is painfully obvious that we need some of his drive & enthusiasm-who knows it might be contagious!!! It's gut check time boys so best of luck the rest of the way.

CRUSHERS WILL PREVAIL ... AS LONG AS THEY OUT WORK, OUT HUSTLE, OUT SKATE, OUT SMART, OUT SHOOT, OUT COACH & OUT SCORE the Lions. I beleive they can & will! Halifax is riding a high enrgy wave right now. They are ispired, so The Crushers need to swamp them. plain & simple. The Coaches: Negativity Breeds Negativity. That's a fact. I sat behind the Crushers bench in Halifax & was very impressed with the energy, & reinforcement from the players & coaches. IT WORKED! CRUSHERS WON! Now, copy that & it'l work again. Go Crushers Go!

Actually, I was the equipment manager of my high school hockey team and varsity hockey team when I was in university, and men and female soccer teams when I attended college. So I would witness how coaches try to motivate the players with a speech and how the captains/assistant capts do their best to get the players motivated prepping them up before, during and after the games while in the locker room or on the bench. The captain and players are just as responsible for showing up at game time, not choking.

If Dunville is doing a lousy job, maybe you should take it up with the owner and sugget he be replaced. If you can do a better job then the head coach at getting a win, why dont you get submit your credentials, discussing how you can improve team morale and chemistry and get behind the bench. It isnt always the coaches job to get the players motivated, they have to show up with drive and motivation themselves. For the record, I know I am defending the coach(to an extent)but sometimes it isnt always the coaches fault. I have worked on a few hockey teams in the past so I have seen it first hand. Just some thoughts.

I was at the game and i think the crushers lacked intensity at times and the power play wasnt much good .But over all they out played halifax by a large margin and should have won the game .They had so much bad luck around the net it was unbeliavable.I think if they keep putting pressure on the Halifax defence the goals will start to go in ,really think about it Ryan never had a crusher team that could get the puck out of their own end so why would Halifax be any difference.

maybe time to shorten the bench some ? just rolling the lines and some of these lines are not working ? the lack of heart is unreal for post season play ? the under acheiving from high profile players is another .. getting hard to watch bi ...it didn't even feel like playoff hockey until the desperation hockey of crushers in the dieing moments of the game .. the lack of emotion from coaching staff is ??? they just stand there with hands in pockets or arms folded , the other side ryan ,he's working with them kids on the bench steady ? my my ??? they can't seem to play a full 60 minutes of hockey at all ? halifax is beaten them all around ,out skating crushers ,beaten them along the boards ,out coaching them ,and the list goes on ,, a few of those trades crushers to halifax are sure paying off for halifax also , fortune/fraser deal ? sturat lenehan ? ryan sure knew what he was doing there !!! as much as i hate to say it ,i wish we still had ryan as a coach over this dumbville !!! he has not impressed me one bit !!!! i truly didn't expect much from him either ,you just had to look at his track record with moncton to see what you where getting ,if its him for 3 years this will be my last time following crushers !!!! BECAUSE THERE IS NO NEED OF CRUSHERS PLAYING THE TYPE OF HOCKEY THERE PLAYING !!!! "HEARTLESS" SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT !!!! IT JUST SEEMS THAT CRUSHER PLAYERS WILL NOT PLAY FOR HIM !!
