Hoops in the Harbour underway

PICTOU – Pictou Academy kicked off its annual Hoops in the Harbour invitational basketball tournament with a win Friday afternoon. The Pictou Academy Girls Invitational Basketball Tournament features teams from Musqudobit Rural, Guysborough Academy, Hants North Rural, Cobequid Educational Centre, Dalbrae Academy and Pictou Academy.

In the game Friday afternoon, Pictou Academy won 64 to 38.

Pitbulls head coach Brent Cameron said it was a great way to kick off the tournament.

“We had a good game, a good opener,” Cameron said. “We played with a lot of energy, enthusiasm. We’re happy to be hosting our fourth tournament.”

The hustle award for the game for Pictou Academy went to Kathleen McConnell and the hustle award for the game for Guysborough went to Moira Hadley. Player of the game for Pictou Academy went to Madeline MacKinnon and the player of the game for Guysborough went to Kristy Hines.

 

SCHEDULE FOR SATURDAY:

9 a.m.: Guysborough vs. Musquodobit

10 a.m.: Dalbrae vs. CEC JV

12:30 p.m.: 5th place cross-over

2:15 p.m. 3rd place cross-over (consolation)

4 p.m.: 1st place cross-over (championship)
