Peewee A Selects have win, two losses at tournament

NEW GLASGOW - The Pictou County peewee A Subway Selects came away from the 8th Annual DQ Female Hockey Tournament with a win and two losses.

The Subway Selects faced off against the River Valley Lightening during their first match up Friday, losing 5-2. Carly Smith and Garyn Purvis scored for the Selects.

An afternoon showdown against the Republicians Cogerno ended with a 6-3 win for the Subway Selects. Purvis scored twice for the Selects, while Shalyn Bona, Lauren Hicks, Ellen Coffin and Bianca Bourgeious netted singles.

The Subway Selects were defeated 3-1 by the Riverview Lightening in their final game. Purvis got the lone goal for the Subway Selects.

The peewee A Selects return to their regular schedule this weekend with a game against the Glace Bay Miners at the Pictou County Wellness Centre Saturday at 1 p.m.
