HALIFAX – Friday night the Weeks Major Midgets won their second straight game of the Chronicle Herald East Coast Ice Jam, defeating the Saint John Vitos 3-2. The win advances the Major Midgets to Saturday play at the inaugural tournament.
Lane Cormier scored a natural hat-trick in the second period for all three Major Midgets' goals. Mark Vokey had two assists, while Darryl Wheadon, Aaron Coleman and Ryan Camp had individual assists.
Luke Melanson made 28 saves in the Weeks Major Midgets Friday night win.
Friday morning the Weeks Major Midgets bounced back from their 4-1 opening loss to the Cornwall Superior Thunder to defeat the St. John's Maple Leafs 3-2.
Vokey led the scoring the Major Midgets with two goals and an assist. Cole Livingstone scored the teams third goal, also adding an assist.
Cormier, Mitchell LeBlanc and Wheadon also added single assists, while Tanner Doiron made 18 saves between the pipes for the Weeks Major Midgets.
