Peewee AAA Crushers win silver medal

ANTIGONISH – The Pictou County peewee AAA Crushers competed in the Bill Chisholm Memorial Tournament in Antigonish this past weekend, leaving with a 2-2-1 record and silver medals.

In their first game Crushers defeated the Cape Breton Islanders 4-1. Scoring for the Crushers were: Jake Martin, Jaden Mason and Oliver Schnare with assists going to Michael MacGillivary (2), Liam Fraser Thompson, Schnare, and Tyler Green. Spencer Creed was named game MVP.

Up against the Truro Bearcats in their second game the Crushers played to a 2-2 tie. Martin scored both Crusher goals with assists going to Ryan MacLennan and MacGillivray, who was also named game MVP.

In their third game the Crushers faced the Cape Breton West Screaming Eagles, tying 4-4. Scoring for the Crushers were Martin, Jaden Mason, Creed and Schnare. Assists went to Chediac, Kevin Mason (2), Schnare, MacGillivray, Martin and Evan Callaghan. Mason was named game MVP.

The Crushers met the Antigonish Bulldogs in the crossover game and won 3-2. Scoring for the Crushers were Kevin Mason, Kyle Walsh and Jake Martin with assists to Ryan MacLennan, MacGillivray, Schnare and Jake Martin. Mitchell Cummer was awarded game MVP.

The Crushers faced the Truro Bearcats for the gold medal and suffered a 6-2 loss. Scoring for the Crushers were MacGillivray and Jake Martin with assists going to Martin, Schnare, Green, and Brayden Ross. Jake Martin was named the game MVP.

The Crushers travel to Sydney this weekend for their county tournament.
