The Weeks Jr A Crushers (19-13-4-1) edged the CIBC Wood Gundy Lumberjacks (7-30-0-2) 4-3 Tuesday night in Bridgewater.
Nick Parker and Mitchell Deruelle led the Crushers with one goal and one assist each while Jeremy Butterworth and Shawn Boudreau led the Lumberjacks with one goal and one assist each as well.
Tim Rose opened the scoring just 16 seconds into the game to give the Crushers an early 1-0 lead. Parker scored at 8:25 to extend the lead to 2-0. Deruelle scored at 14:37 to increase the lead to 3-0. Jordan Moore (game winner) scored at 19:03 to widen the lead to 4-0 after the first period. Michael Crawley (powerplay) scored at 5:48 to get the Lumberjacks on the scoreboard at 4-1 after the second period. Boudreau scored at 2:17 to cut the lead in half at 4-2. Butterworth scored at 16:03 to narrow the lead to 4-3 but that would be as close as the Lumberjacks would get.
Pictou County went 0 for 8 on the powerplay while Bridgewater went 1 for 2.
Dylan Frank stopped 15 of 18 shots for the win while Jacob Edwards stopped 43 of 47 shots in the loss.
