WESTVILLE - The Northumberland Nighthawks boys hockey team hosted the 7th Annual Danny Dorrington Hockey Tournament over the weekend, making it to the crossovers by finishing coming first in their division but lost to Kings Edgehill who went on to win the tournament.
The Nighthawks first played J.L. Ilsley ending in a 4-4 tie. Nighthawk goal scorers were Jaret Watt, Ben Morrissey (2) and Luke Swanwick with assists earned by Brandon Bell (2), Watt and Evan Ferguson.
Next the Nighthawks faced Dalbrae winning 4-3 with Brett Connors, Watt, Evan Ferguson and Kyle Sutherland scoring the goals with assists earned by Noah Chisholm, Dallas MacDonald, Swanwick and Morgan Peters.
The Nighthawks then took on Par-En-Bas winning 4-1 with Dallas MacDonald, Morrissey, Connors and Rainer MacKay scoring the goals with assists earned by Morrissey, Watt and Chisholm.
Nighthawks players of the game were awarded to Morrissey, Chisholm, Swanwick and Robie Jones.
The Nighthawks thanked the Dorrington family, the Westville Sports Centre, dedicated volunteers, sponsors and participants for the successful tournament.
The Northumberland boys hockey team will be hosting Antigonish next Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Westville Sports Centre.
