X-Women volleyball split weekend

ANTIGONISH – Up against Acadia and the CIS No. 5 ranked Dalhousie Tigers the St. FX women’s volleyball team split their weekend at home, winning 3-1 over Acadia on Friday before falling in straight sets to Dalhousie on Saturday.

Veteran fifth year hitter Catherine Thornton led the St. FX attack with 14 kills in the match against Acadia. She also had two aces, two blocks and 13 digs. Freshman Aneta Nejmanova had 10 kills for St. FX, along with one ace, one block and six digs.

Against Dal, Thornton led the X-Women with 10 kills and 17 digs. Nejmanova had seven kills, six blocks and nine digs, while Wolfenden chipped in with four kills, four aces and six digs. Dunphy had eight digs in the match for the X-Women and Landry had 20 set assists and four digs.

Next on the schedule for St. FX is a single game against seventh place Acadia team on Friday.
