PICTOU COUNTY – The Pictou County Peewee A Crushers had a strong showing at the P.E.I. Police Association hockey tournament in Summerside this past weekend, with two wins and two losses.
In the first game, the Crushers defeated the Saint John Flames by a score of 2-0. Scoring for the Crushers were Isaac MacDonald and Cairan Boone. Assists went to Luke Sheehan and Carson Ripoll. Tyler Watters received the shutout and player of the game.
Game two saw the Crushers downing the Fredericton Ice Dogs by a score of 6-3. Ripoll scored once in each period for the hat trick, while Luke Sheehan, Isaac MacDonald and Munro MacKay added singles. Assists went to Riley Sheehan, Isaac MacDonald (2) and Ben MacDonald. Drew Murphy got the win in goal. Ripoll was named player of the game.
Game three saw the Crushers up against the Halifax Hawks, with the Hawks defeating the Crushers by a score of 5-2. Scoring for the Crushers were Ripoll and Isaac MacDonald. Luke Sheehan was named player of the game.
The Crushers finished third overall out of a possible eight to meet the Hawks again in the semifinal, however they were defeated by a score of 6-0. Player of the game was Ben MacDonald and Ripoll was named tournament all-star for the Crushers.
