PICTOU COUNTY – The Atom AAA Crushers hosted the Western Valley Spartans over the weekend, splitting the series.

On Saturday Brycen MacDonald opened the scoring for the Crushers on a feed from Blake Kontuk. Kontuk scored in the third, but it would not be enough and the Spartans won 4-2. Brayden Leblanc was in goal.

Sunday’s rematch was a high scoring affair with 14 goals being scored. Crushers earned the two points with a 8-6 win. Crushers picking up points were Kontuk four goals and 1 assists, Connor MacLeod two goals and three assists, MacDonald one goal and one assist, Jayden Hatchard one goal, Colin MacGillivray two assists, Kyle Reim, Nole Chapman and Cole Green picking up an assist. Cody MacDougall was between pipes for the win.

The next action for the Crushers will be this weekend when they travel to P.E.I. to participate in the SPUD hockey tournament.
