SYDNEY – The Ballantyne Fuels peewee AAA Crushers participated in the MacDonald-Gallagher tournament in Sydney this past weekend and won gold with a 5-1 win over the Cape Breton West Screaming Eagles.
Scoring for the Crushers in the final were Jake Martin (2), Oliver Schnare, Kevin Mason, and Evan Callaghan with assists to Liam Fraser-Thompson (2), Kyle Walsh, Jaden Mason and Callaghan, who was named the game MVP.
In their first game of the tournament the Crushers defeated the Sackville Flyers 1-0. Scoring for the Crushers was Jaden Mason with assists to Fraser Thompson and Martin. Mitchell Cummer was game MVP.
The Crushers lost their second game to the Cape Breton West Screaming Eagles 5-3. Scoring for the Crushers were Michael MacGillivray, Walsh, and Martin with assists to Schnare, Jaden Mason, and Evan Callaghan. The game MVP was Walsh.
Their third game paired the Crushers against the Sydney Steelers and they skated to an 8-1 win. Scoring for the Crushers were Martin (4), Schnare, Evan Callaghan, Tyler Green, and Kevin Mason with assists to Schnare, Kevin Mason (2), Walsh and Martin. The game MVP was Martin.
The Crushers played the South Shore Ice Sharks in their fourth game and left with a 6-2 win. Scoring for the Crushers were Kevin Mason (5) and Jake Martin with assists to Kevin Mason, Walsh, Fraser-Thompson and MacGillivray, while Kevin Mason earned game MVP.
The Crushers travel to Bridgewater this weekend to faceoff against the South Shore Ice Sharks.
