Weeks Crushers start week off with victory

HALIFAX - Tuesday night on the road the Pictou County Weeks Crushers picked up two points with a 6-4 win over the Metro Shipbuilders. 

Mitchell Deruelle led the Crushers with two goals and two assists while Nick Parker added one goal and one assist. Darcy Burley led the Shipbuilders with two goals.

Burley opened the scoring at 3:54 to give the Shipbuilders a 1-0 lead. Evan Carmody scored at 13:53 to tie the game at 1-1. Connor McCoach scored at 16:04 to regain the lead for Metro at 2-1. Burley scored his second of the game and period at 19:30 to extend the lead to 3-1 after the first period.

Mitchell Shewfelt scored at 1:11 of the second period to cut the lead to 3-2. Deruelle (unassisted) scored at 12:43 to tie the game 3-3. Justin Thomas (unassisted) scored at 15:34 to retake the lead for the Shipbuilders at 4-3. Jordan McInnis scored at 19:52 to deadlock the game at 4-4 after the second period.

Deruelle scored the game-winning goal at 12:19 to give the Crushers a 5-4 lead. Parker rounded out the scoring at 16:02.

Pictou County went 0-1 on the powerplay while Metro went 2-2.

Dylan Frank stopped 25 of 29 shots for the win while Jeff Arkin stopped 34 of 40 shots in the loss.
