The Halifax Mooseheads finished their three game weekend with a bang.
Mooseheads forward Jonathan Drouin continued his torrid point streak, leading the Mooseheads to a 5-2 victory over the P.E.I. Rocket in front of 2,167 fans at the Charlottown Civic Centre on Sunday afternoon.
After Metej Beran opened the scoring for the Rocket 4:49 seconds in the first period, the Mooseheads roared back with five unanswered goals.
Mooseheads forward Martin Frk got the ball rolling with his 25th marker of the season less than a minute after Beran’s goal and Brent Andrews capped the onslaught with his 11th of the year with just over six minutes left in the second period.
Playing in just his second game of the season No. 8 defenceman Brennan Bailey scored his first QMJHL goal.
The Mooseheads set a new franchise record for wins in a season with 46.
Mooseheads forward Jonathan Drouin had another strong game, picking up a goal and a pair of assists to extend his QMJHL leading point streak to 20 games (19 goals and 23 assists)
Mooseheads netminder Zach Fucale had a strong outing making 32 saves in the victory
Stephen MacAulay had the other goal for the Mooseheads. Josh Currie rounded out the scoring for the Rocket.
In three of their weeekend victories, the Mooseheads outscored their opposition 16-7.
With the win the Mooseheads improve to 46-6-2-1 while the Rocket fall to 32-22-2.
