St. FX women’s hockey wins AUS title

SACKVILLE, N.B. – The St. FX women’s hockey team defeated the Saint Mary’s Huskies 4-1 Sunday afternoon to claim the 2013 AUS women’s hockey championship.

Caitlyn Schell opened the scoring for the Huskies at the 4:24 mark of the first period, but the X-Women answered with two goals before the first intermission from Brittney Perkins and Erin Brophy.

Molly MacDonald and Alex Normore scored the final two X-Women goals, while Katie Greenway made 20 saves in goal for the win on Sunday.

The team will now travel to the CIS women’s hockey championship being held March 7-10 at the University of Toronto.
