Atom AA Crushers clinch provincial berth

PICTOU COUNTY - The Pictou County atom AA Crushers hosted teams from Antigonish, Cumberland, Acadia, Truro and West Hants for their league Provincial Qualifying tournament this past weekend at the Wellness Centre.

The team earned a berth into provincials being held in Kentville March 15-17. The Crushers finished with a 4-1 record outscoring their competition 28-8.

The clinching game was a convincing 5-0 win against the West Hants Warriors. Players of the game for Pictou for the five games were goaltenders Vaughan MacEachern and Tyler Matchem as well as Lucas Fraser, Ryan Green and Cal Maxner. Leading goal scorers were Evan Shea and Ryan Green with six each and Thomas Devine with four.
