Atom AAA Crushers wrap up regular season

PICTOU COUNTY - The atom AAA Crushers wrapped up their regular season with three games in four days, recording a win, loss and a tie.

Thursday, in Trenton, the Crushers rolled over the Antigonish Bulldogs with a 5-0 victory. Scoring for Pictou County were Connor MacLeod and Blake Kontuk with two each and KJ Emery with a single. Picking up assists were Raymond Chisholm with a pair and singles to Colin MacGillivray, Nole Chapman and Scotty Long. Brayden Leblanc earned the shutout.

Saturday the Crushers crossed Mount Thom to face the Bearcats. The Crushers fell short losing 2-1. Scoring the lone goal for the Crushers was MacLeod with Ryan Alexander earning the assist. Cody MacDougall was in goal.

On Sunday, the team travelled to Lunenburg to play the South Shore Sharks in a four point game. The game would end in a 5-5 tie. Jayden Hatchard, Jansen Langille, Brycen MacDonald, MacLeod and Emery scored for the Crushers. MacLeod (3), Kontuk (2), Long (2), Hatchard (2), Cole Green and MacDonald picked up assists.  Leblanc was between the pipes.

The Crushers, South Shore Sharks and Yarmouth Mariners all finished with 27 points behind the first place Acadia Axeman, with the Crushers finishing fourth in the Nova Scotia Atom AAA Mainland League. They will travel to Kingston this weekend to participate in the league tournament hosted by the Western Valley Spartans. Friday they play against Acadia and Truro and Saturday Antigonish and Western Valley with qualifiers being played Sunday morning. The top two teams will move on to compete for the provincial atom AAA title hosted by the Bedford Blues.
