On Wednesday night at the Westville Miners Sports Centre the Bestway Black Hawks defeated Doc's Demons 9-4 in round robin playoff action.

Chris MacDonald led all shooters for the Hawks with a hat trick while Ricky Wright and Colin MacKenzie had two each while Jerry Austin and Alan Leck potted singles.

Scoring for Docs were Don Buchanan, Kevin Scott, Clarence Elms and Mark MacDonald.

Former player, turned coach, Rocky Cotter was behind the Acropole bench in an end-to-end match between Highland Nissan and the Acropole Blues that ended up in a 3-3 tie.

Blue's goalie Rob Campbell, fresh off a shut-out from last game injured his knee and Snell came in to finish off the last period. Cotter said he was listed day to day and should be able to play on Sunday.

Blue's goals came from Dave Steele, Steve Sutherland and Archie Mathews.

Nissan's goal scorers were Jason Sample, Billy Kontuk and Chris Hatchard.

With forty seconds left in the game, Hatchard picked off a pass in the high slot and 'water bottled' a shot to tie the game.

"It felt good to get that one," Hatchard said. "We're still in it mathematically.”

Playoffs resume on Sunday night at 7:30.
