Crushers shutout Lumberjacks

The Pictou County Weeks Crushers (27-18-4-1) blanked the CIBC Wood Gundy Lumberjacks (10-37-0-3) 4-0 Friday night in Bridgewater.

Mitchell Deruelle led the Crushers with 2 goals while Garrett Holmes added 3 assists.

After a scoreless first and second period, Nick Parker (game winner) opened the scoring at 2:28 to give the Crushers a 1-0 lead. Deruelle scored 48 seconds later at 3:16 to extend the lead to 2-0. Jordan McInnis scored at 7:44 to increase the lead to 3-0. Deruelle (second goal of game) rounded out the scoring at 9:11.

Pictou County went 0 for 2 on the powerplay while Bridgewater also went 0 for 2.

Brandon Thibeau stopped all 28 shots for the shutout win while Billy Clarke stopped 40 of 44 shots in the loss.
