AMHERST - The NRHS Nighthawks boys hockey team’s third and deciding game in their best-of-three series with the Amherst Vikings and was played Friday night for the regional banner.
The Nighthawks won 1-0 in double overtime at the Amherst Sports Centre.
Scoring for the Nighthawks was Luke Swanwick who redirected a pass from Ben Morrissey. Nighthawk goalie Robbie Jones earned the shutout making 30 saves in goal.
The Nighthawks edged the Vikings 2-1 in Trenton to tie the series 1-1 during the second game. In the first period Cody Heighton scored assisted by Brett Connors. Colby Fraser scored the second goal unassisted. Marshall MacNeil got the win in nets. The Vikings won the first game in the series 1-0 in Amherst.
The Nighthawks will host Provincials at the Wellness Centre March 22-24.
