WESTVILLE - There will be two more games played in the round-robin on Wednesday night in Westville Gentlemen's hockey, but will have no impact on who goes to the best-of-three final starting on Sunday night.
The Blues and Black Hawks tied 5-5 to erase any hope of the Habs to sneek in the back door.
"Too little too late," said Habs goalie Roger MacKay said. "We were playing at a level to win it, if we didn't suck the first half of the playoffs, we would have been there."
Acropole goal scorers were Mark Bannerman (2), Steve Sutherland, Mark Jordon and John Behie. Blues defensive specialist Dave Stelle summed it up in one sentence, "we are defending champs and we have to continue to play like champs in order to repeat."
Replying for Bestway was Ricky Wright (2), Chris MacDonald, Dave Sinnis and Colin MacKenzie.
Lou Smith said, "this is great to be heading to the finals, I just hope my body is willing to work with brain to get through this."
In the other game, Highland Nissan scored an empty net goal to beat Doc's Demons 8-6.
Jason Sample led the Habs with three goals while Billy Kontuk had two and Delbert Brown, Brian Gratto and Blaine Murray had singles.
Scoring for Doc's were Jason O'Donnell (2), Dewy Elms, Don Buchanan, Howie Cotter and Scott MacKinnon.
