THORBURN – The East Pictou Silver Blades recently had skaters compete in Port Hawkesbury at the Star Skate provincial championships, taking home three medals.

Courtney Arnold, 10, brought home the gold medal for Introductory B group one. Raquel Gerrior also 10, brought home the bronze medal Introductory B group one, her second of the season. Raelene Fraser, 12, was awarded the silver medal in Primary B.

Rounding out the group with strong skates were Chantelle Ramsey, Sienna Avery and Katherine Devine all competing in Pre-Preliminary.

On Wednesday the club has Sydney Swain, 8, participating in her first competition, which is taking place in Amherst.

Saturday March 9 the East Pictou Silver Blades will also be holding their annual ice show at the Ivor MacDonald Memorial Arena in Thorburn. The doors open at 6 p.m. and the cost is $5 for adults; students and seniors is $3 and children under five-years-old are free.
