The Northern Nova United Soccer Club is gearing up for a new season of soccer and hoping to surpass past results.
“Over the past year our club has celebrated many successes- including setting a record for players’ numbers in our mini and recreational program which bodes well for the future of the club,” president Korey Avery said in a release.
In the 2012 season, the club’s Tier II teams won six of the nine Highland Soccer League Divisions. The success continued on into the provincial tournament, where the club captured four medals, including a gold medal in the U12 age group.
He said this season they are excited to continue this enthusiasm and growth with programs in mini, academy, recreational, Tier II, and Senior B soccer. These programs are available to players ranging from U4 to U18 and beyond.
The mini program focuses on developing core skills and having fun, while the Academy program hones the skills of our U8 and U10 players in preparation for competitive play at the Tier I or Tier II levels. The Tier II program offers competitive soccer for players U12 to U18, competing in the Highland Soccer League.
The board members said they have been working through the winter season to bring a well-rounded experience to all of the players, coaches and families. They have a photographer booked for team and individual photos, and they are exploring options to use social media, involving youth board members in the club and are planning a special Tier-II Kick-off event
To help introduce people to the program the board is working on a document ‘What to expect when you’re expecting a soccer player: a Parents/Guardians guide to the upcoming season’.
“This will help you understand our club, let you know what to expect when you arrive at soccer and some fun tips to make things a little bit easier for you,” Avery stated.
