PICTOU COUNTY - Meagan Stewart led the way with a hat-trick for the Pictou County bantam AA Subway Selects in a 5-0 win over the Colchester Cyclones on Sunday at the Hector Arena.
Stewart opened the scoring in the first period with an unassisted goal that she took out from the corner and shot backhanded into the net. Annika Mason followed up with a slap shot as she crossed the blue line, blasting the puck into the top corner past the Colchester goaltender.
In the second period, Katelyn Dunn tapped in the puck from a pass across the front of the net by Emilly MacDonald.
Stewart completed her hat-trick with two goals in the third, the first assisted by MacDonald and the second assisted by Dunn.
Goaltender Brittany Duff only had to turn away five shots from the Cyclones in her shutout victory, as the Selects outshot their opponents 23-5.
