Midget Subway Selects take two from Cumberland

PICTOU COUNTY - The Pictou County Female midget Subway Selects picked up a couple of wins against Cumberland Ramblers in a home-and-home series last weekend. 

On Saturday in Amherst, the Selects pounced early against Cumberland won 4-2. Leading the Selects was Shauna Wright with a hat trick, Jessie McIntyre with a goal and an assist. Kayla Simpson and Lindsay Cheek picked up helpers.

On Sunday at home, Cumberland was out to settle up and scored early in the first, but the Selects battled back and won another 4-2 decision. Rachel Brown had the hot hand for the Selects notching a pair of goals with Wright and Isobel Demont picking up singles. McIntyre picked up the only helper. 

Kara Mason was solid between the pipes and picked up both victories for the Selects. 

The Selects continue to focus on preparing for their upcoming N.S. Female Midget AA Provincial Championship in Western Valley being held March 22-24 as the Selects have earned the right to represent North Conference along with zone rival Antigonish Bulldogs.
