It only took five innings in Sunday’s final for the New Glasgow Kinsmen peewee Dairy Queen Blizzards to crush the Port Hawkesbury Bombers 13 -3 to the Stellarton Invitational Tournament.
Parker Hickey, Jake Martin and Matt Chediac each homered for the Blizzards in the third inning of the final to lead New Glasgow offensively. Chad Russell carried the team on the mound, while Chediac was named the tournament MVP.
Opening the tournament the Blizzards had a strong opening defeating Stellarton 27-9. Chediac was named the game MVP with a grand slam and six RBIs to lead the Blizzard attack.
In the second game the Blizzards faced a tough team from Sydney Mines and defeated them 7-3. Matt Munroe pitched a solid game for the Blizzards. Martin had two triples and was named the game MVP.
On Sunday, Luke Sheehan pitched five solid innings and was named game MVP as the Blizzards tied Port Hawkesbury 7-7.
The Blizzards said Mark and Carrie MacCallum, Rob MacKay and the parents of the Stellarton Albions put on an amazing tournament.
