Starting next week on Aug. 26 the Northumberland Nighthawks will start their annual soccer camps in preparation for the season.
At 8 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday at 6 p.m. NRHS will conduct the annual rookie camp and orientation for all soccer players that will be entering Grade 9 or 10 this school year and for student athletes that did not play school or summer soccer in the past year.
The camp will run each day at the NRHS field in Alma.
Following that the open training camp and tryouts for all male and female players will take place beginning Aug. 29. The girls begin at 8 a.m. that day, while the boys start at 10 a.m.
The day will start with registration, payment of tryout fees ($10) and a full training session, which included fitness testing.
All soccer players that will be full-time students at NRHS from Grades 9 through 12 are welcome to attend the training camps.
The camp will continue on Friday, Aug. 30 for the girls at 8 a.m. and the boys at 10 a.m. and on Monday, Sept. 2 for the girls at 10 a.m. to noon. The boys will be out again on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 4 p.m.
All sessions will be conducted at the NRHS field in Alma. Coaches ask that players come prepared for a full workout on each day with proper soccer gear, water bottle, sunscreen and anything else they may want or need.
