This weekend the Stellarton Mosquito AA Albions will be participating in Baseball Nova Scotia’s mosquito AA provincial championship being hosted by New Glasgow's Crofter's Cubs.
The winning team will represent Nova Scotia at the Atlantic tournament in Yarmouth Sept. 13-15.
The Albions have had a strong season and have high expectations coming into the eight-team tournament due to their strong team chemistry and the balance and depth of their pitching and hitting. The Albions record this year is 17-7-1 and have improved dramatically since the end of June. The team went undefeated in the month of July and have won two tournaments this summer; their latest being a ten-team tournament in Prince Edward Island earlier this month.
The team’s first game is on Friday at 6 p.m. versus the host New Glasgow Crofter’s Cubs. On Saturday, the Albions play the Tri-County Rangers at 1:30 p.m. and the Hants North Jays at 6:30 p.m. The semifinals and championship game are on Sunday. All games are being played at the Kinsmen Field in New Glasgow.
