The fifth annual Jimmy George Memorial Tournament started with a game between host team Pictou Academy and North Nova Education Centre on Friday.
The Jimmy George Memorial Tournament is all about fun, says coach Rick Cyr with the Pictou Academy girls’ high school soccer team.
That’s what he wants to see from the fifth annual series of games.
“It’s not just the best players. All my girls are playing,” he says, adding that’s what George would’ve wanted.
Three teams are participating this year: Pictou Academy, North Nova Education Centre and Northumberland Regional High School.
The tournament continues Saturday at 10 a.m. with a game at the Pictou Rotary field between NNEC and NRHS.
The championship game is at 2 p.m., also at the Lions’ Field at the Pictou Rotary.
