The Pictou County Weeks Crushers were defeated 5-3 by the Truro Bearcats Saturday night in Truro, their first regulation loss of the season thus far.
Colby Lanceleve led the Bearcats with a hat trick, while David Stephens led the Crushers with one goal and two assists.
Stephens (power play) opened the scoring at 2:43 to give the Crushers a 1-0 lead. Lanceleve scored at 3:47 to tie the game at 1-1. Lanceleve (second goal of game) scored at 7:54 to give the Bearcats a 2-1 lead. Nick Parker scored at 8:50 to even the score at 2-2 after the first period.
Kyle Tibbo scored at 6:36 of the second period to regain the lead for Truro at 3-2. Lanceleve (game winner, third goal of game) scored at 12:18 to extend the lead to 4-2 after two periods.
Parker (second goal of game) scored at 1:14 to cut the lead to 4-3. Jacob Smith rounded out the scoring at 5:49.
Truro went 0 for 4 on the power play, while Pictou County went 1 for 4.
Jacob Fancy stopped 36 of 39 shots for the win while Brandon Thibeau stopped 41 of 46 shots in the loss.
