NEW GLASGOW – The Pictou County Weeks Crushers lost their second straight game tonight, falling 5-4 to the Miramichi Timberwolves at home.
After opening the scoring with a goal by Tyler Doyle, just 3:17 into the first period, the Crushers fell apart for the next number of minutes.
Bryce Milson tied the game for the Timberwolves on the power play 4:22 into the frame and just over five minutes later Rankyn Campbell scored a shorthanded goal, giving the Timberwolves their first lead of the game.
Alex Scully padded the lead at 16:24, but John Mullally came back for the Crushers. The first period ended with the Crushers trailing 3-2, while the shots were tied 10-10.
Mullally scored his second goal just 3:10 into the second, tying the game 3-3, but Miramichi scored two goals in the next two minutes from Danny Wicks and Mitch McMullin to take a 5-3 lead.
Their two-goal lead lasted into the third period until late goal by David Stephens with 2:37 remaining cut the lead to one.
Alex Collette made 31 saves in the win for the Timberwolves, while Devan Tremblay stopped 25 shots in the loss.
The Crushers next game is Sunday on the road against Dieppe.
