They were down a player within five minutes of the game after Dylan Maybe dislocated his knee and was taken out by ambulance.
“From there on, the boys just weren’t concentrating,” said coach Fred States.
Pugwash took the lead from the first half, scoring two goals and leaving tensions high.
The Pitbulls were left short two more players after receiving penalty cards.
They came back stronger in the second half, with Ryan MacDonald giving them their lone goal.
“The boys played well for being down. Real well, but it’s soccer. When you’re down two or three players, you can’t expect to come back and win. Simple as that.”
They lost one more player in the second half to a penalty card.
Their next game is at 10 a.m. today for third and fourth place against Colchester Christian Academy at McCulloch Field in Pictou while Pugwash District High School will meet Parrsboro in the championship game at noon.
