MADISON, Wis. - University of Wisconsin forward Blayre Turnbull, a junior from Stellarton, is the WCHA women’s offensive player of the week for Oct. 23.
Turnbull led the Wisconsin offensive attack against WCHA-rival St. Cloud State last weekend, recording two goals and five points as the host Badgers earned a sweep over the Huskies. In last Friday’s (Oct. 18) 4-1 win, Turnbull recorded an assist and was plus two. Then in UW’s 6-0 triumph over the Huskies on Saturday (Oct. 19), Turnbull recorded two goals, one of them being her second shorthanded goal of the season, which is tied for the nation’s lead. Turnbull also chipped in two assists to bring her season total up to five, which is tied for the team lead.
For the series, she also had 11 shots on goal and was a team-best plus five. Her 1.33 points per game average this season is tied for 26th in the country.
