Tyler Matchem shuts down a member of the Jr. Axemen on a penalty shot.
Lucas Canning scored with four seconds left in the third period for a 4-3 win over the Acadia Jr. Axemen in regular season action on Saturday at the Pictou County Wellness Centre.
Landon Sim opened the scoring for the Crushers in the first period with assists going to Kiefer Avery and Liam Berthiaume. Ryan Green also scored in the first with assists from MacLean Tobin and Matthew Carson. The Jr. Axemen answered with three goals in the first and second periods, but easily could’ve had four if it wasn’t for Tyler Matchem’s save on a penalty shot late in the second.
The Crushers came out strong in the third with Canning scoring two unassisted goals for the 4-3 win.
The atom AAA Crushers are off the following weekend for Hockey Nova Scotia Development weekend. Their next game is Saturday, Nov. 9 at 6:15 p.m. at the Pictou County Wellness Centre against the Truro Bearcats.
