QUEBEC CITY – Scotsburn’s Emma Taylor was named to the 15-player CIS women’s rugby all-Canadian team last night at the All-Canadian Gala held in Quebec City as part of the CIS women’s rugby championship taking place this week.
Taylor was named to the second row. She was the lone Nova Scotian named to the team, with Jean Baker (Argyle Shore, P.E.I.) of the SMU Huskies being the only other Maritimer to be named to the team as centre.
Brianna Miller, a fourth-year back from McGill University, was named CIS player of the year in women’s rugby. Calgary prop DaLeaka Menin was named rookie of the year; Dino teammate Tarin Arndt received the student-athlete community service award; and Acadia’s Matthew Durant earned the Jim Atkinson Award as coach of the year.
The championship kicks off today at TELUS-Université Laval Stadium.
