Players announced for AUS men’s hockey all-star game

FREDERICTON – The Team Canada coaching staff for the 2013 Winter Universiade in Italy has announced the men’s hockey players for the all-star game to be held this Friday at the Grant-Harvey Centre in Fredericton.

Drew Owsley of St. FX was one the goalies selected.

On defence St. FX had fifth-year players Josh Day of St. John’s, N.L. and Spencer McAvoy of St. Albert, Alta. selected. No Nova Scotians were selected for either of those positions.

Up front there were five Nova Scotians selected to participate in the all-star game including Chris Culligan (UNB), Dana Fraser (UPEI), Ryan Hillier (Halifax), Michael Kirkpatrick (North Sydney) and Nick MacNeil (Creignish).

On top of Kirkpatrick, Jason Bast (Regina, Sask.) and Rob Slaney (Portugal Cove, N.L.) of the St. FX men’s hockey team were also selected as forwards for the game.
