Scotians drop Pirates, win fourth straight

TRENTON – The Pictou County Scotians picked up their fourth straight victory Sunday night, dropping the Strait Pirates 4-2 at home.

Brandon Verge led the Scotians with two goals and three points, while Mitchell Donlevy made 36 saves for the win.

Michael Scarth opened the scoring for the Pirates 2:18 into the first period. It wasn’t until the final minute of the frame that Verge answered for the Scotians to tie the game going into the intermission.

Verge scored his second of the game just 1:48 into the second period. There were no other goals scored in the period.

Dave Greencorn tied the game in the third for the Pirates, just 41 seconds in.

Ryan Langille scored at 6:47, while Bradley MacEachern added another with 19 seconds remaining to give the Scotians their 4-2 victory.

Shawn Jeffery made 32 saves in the loss for the Strait Pirates.
