NEW GLASGOW - The Pictou County bantam AA Subway Selects earned three of a possible four points in provincial league play this past weekend, tying the Colchester Cyclones 2-2 on Saturday before defeating the Sackville Flyers 4-0 on Sunday.
On Saturday Patti-Ann Tracey gave the Selects a 1-0 lead eight minutes into the second period. Colchester capitalized on the power play three minutes later to even things up. Aevan MacDonald scored the go ahead goal for Pictou County with just over five minutes to play in the game, but with 25 seconds to play, the Cyclones scored to earn a tie. The Selects outshot the Cyclones 40-10 and had the edge in play for most of the game. Jenna Landry was in goal for Pictou County.
On Sunday the Selects dominated the Flyers for the better part of the game, outshooting them 39-9 and scoring four unanswered goals for the win. Camryn Halliday and Patti-Ann Tracey led the charge for the Selects with two goals and two assists each. Landry had the shutout for the Selects.
The Selects play host to Western Valley in Pictou on Saturday next weekend before travelling to Colchester on Sunday as league play continues.
