The 25-year-old native of Birch Hill was called up Friday to the Pittsburgh Penguins from their American Hockey League affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

The Penguins hosted the Nashville Predators Friday night before travelling to New Jersey to take on the Devils tonight at 8 p.m. Atlantic time. It was not known at press time in which contests Sill would suit up.

Sill, a six-foot-two, 202-pound forward, has spent the past five seasons in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and has four points (1G, 3A) in 13 games so far this year. He appeared in two preseason games for the NHL club in September.

Sill inked a one-year, two-way deal with the Penguins in July worth US$550,000 at the NHL level.

A former Truro Bearcat who helped the team to its 2006-07 Maritime Junior Hockey League title, Sill has become a fan favourite with the AHL Penguins with his intense and physical play.
