ANTIGONISH - The Antigonish female midget AA Bulldogs climbed four points in the South Conference Female Hockey League standings this weekend with two wins and a loss.
On Saturday at the Antigonish Arena, the girls faced the Halifax Hawks, winning 4-1. Scoring for the Bulldogs were Emma Boudreau, Katelyn Dunn of New Glasgow, Shauna Campbell (power play) and Kerilyn Kennedy (unassisted). Assists were recorded by Cynthia MacDonald, Boudreau, Brigid O’Connor and Kara Chisholm.
The girls played two games on the road on Sunday. In the first game, they were victorious over the Bedford Blues at the BMO Centre, winning 2-1. Bedford opened the scoring early in the second period, with the Bulldogs answering back later in the period with an unassisted goal by Emma Boudreau. Shauna Campbell scored a short-handed goal with just over two minutes left in the game to put the local girls ahead.
In the second game, Antigonish fell to the Halifax Hawks 2-0 at the Centennial Arena.
Breanna MacDonald was in goal for all three games.
