Drouin, Fucale named to Team Canada junior camp, locks to make team

Two Halifax Mooseheads are all but locks to be wearing the red and white for Canada at this year’s world junior hockey championships.

Hockey Canada announced its 25-player camp roster on Monday, and it includes only two goalies, one of whom is Mooseheads netminder Zach Fucale.

In past years, as many as 40 players have been invited to the camp, including four goaltenders.

At forward, there are 15 players invited to camp, including forward Jonathan Drouin, who will undoubtedly make the team as a returning player and reigning Canadian Hockey League most valuable player.

All tolled, there are six players invited to camp from the QMJHL. The others are forwards Anthony Mantha (Val-d’Or), Frederik Gauthier (Rimouski), Felix Girard (Baie-Comeau) and Charles Hudon (Chicoutimi).

The camp opens Dec. 12 in Toronto, with the world juniors beginning on Boxing Day in Sweden.
