Chase Bowden

CHARLOTTETOWN – Chance Harbour’s Chase Bowden, a basketball player with the Holland College Hurricanes, has been named the Holland College male athlete of the week alongside volleyball player Courtney Pryce.

Bowden, a second-year player with the Hurricanes, helped them defeat the Mount Allison Mounties on Sunday. Bowden returned from injury scoring 29 points and adding nine rebounds. He was also nine for 11 from the free throw line in the game. The Hurricanes won the game 86-74.

The men’s basketball team enters the Christmas break with a 5-2 record, sitting in second place in the ACAA standings as well as is sitting as number eight in the CCAA national men’s rankings.  They will return to the court on Jan. 11 when they host the UKC Blue Devils.

Pryce, a first-year middle from Cobourg, Ont. had four kills and 10 digs during Saturday’s game and then recorded 12 kills, four service aces and four digs during Sunday’s game; both games were played against the STU Tommies.
