Victoriaville Tigres Gabriel Gagne lands a check on Halifax Mooseheads Jonathan Drouin.
Appropriately, Jonathan Drouin came through in the clutch, leading the Herd to a 4-1 victory over the Victoriaville Tigres before 6,628 fans at the Metro Centre Thursday evening.
With the score deadlocked at 1-1, the Herd’s leading scorer rifled home his first of the contest, just past the midpoint of the final frame, and the deposited his second, a shorthanded marker just over a minute later.
It was a spectacular turn of events in an otherwise lackluster two period for both teams.
Timo Meier would seal the deal for the Mooseheads, while Nikolaj Ehlers rounded out the scoring for the Herd.
With the victory, the Mooseheads snap their two-game losing streak and improve to 22-10. They sit in second place in league standings.
Carl-Antoine Delisle responded for the Tigres.
