PICTOU - It was a busy weekend for the Pictou County peewee AA Subway Selects as they played four games, winning all four.
The Selects travelled to Bedford on Friday night to face the Blues. Jenna Reid scored a pair and Emily Hayes added a single in the 3-1 win. Assists went to MacKenzie Ells and Garyn Purvis.
On Saturday Pictou County played two exhibition games, hosting the Capital District Cyclones of P.E.I., handing them their first two losses of the season.
In the first game at the Hector Arena the local girls shutout the P.E.I. team 2-0. Shalyn Bona and KJ Emery scored, assisted by Reid (2) and Madison Robertson. Victoria Dunn got the shutout in goal.
In the second game at the Stellarton Memorial Rink, the Selects won 3-2 with goals from Reid, Ells and Lindsey MacDonald. Assists were marked by Jenna Hickey with two, Ells, and MacDonald.
Sunday the Selects defeated the Dartmouth Whalers 3-2 at the Hector Arena. Bona, Hickey (unassisted) and Robertson each scored a single tally for the local squad, while Robertson, Bona and Eva Wornell got the assists.
The two league game wins allowed the Selects to climb up in the standings from fifth place to third.
Dunn was in goal for all four games.
