NEW GLASGOW - The Pictou County atom AA Crushers took to the ice for two home games against the Yarmouth Mariners this past weekend, losing both.
On Saturday the Crushers started out strong, scoring the first two goals of the game, but Yarmouth came alive at the end of the first period and went on to take the win.
Scoring for the Crushers were: Myles Farnsworth and Cameron MacKinnon. Assisting on the goals were: Cale MacLaughlin, Calvin Denny, Covey Cameron and Joseph Mason.
On Sunday, Yarmouth opened the scoring in the first period with a power play goal, but MacLaughlin got the Crushers on the scoreboard before the end of the first period. Tanner Steele and Cameron Young assisted on the goal.
The second period remained scoreless as the Crushers tying goal was waved off.
After the halfway mark in the third period, the Crushers gave up another power play goal, and the Mariners took the win 2-1. Michael Law and Jacob Fraser were both solid between the pipes.
This weekend the Crushers play Cumberland at the Wellness Centre on Sunday.
