NNEC varsity girl’s basketball now even with Gillis this season
After defeating the J.H. Gillis in their first meeting of the season, the North Nova varsity girl’s basketball team fell 68-66 Wednesday night at home.

Down by six at halftime the Gryphons took the lead with 8:30 remaining in the third quarter, only to allow the Royals to take the lead into the final quarter, scoring with five seconds on the clock.
Down 45-44 the Gryphons took the lead early in the third and with five minutes left in the game led 57-53.
A late push by the Royals saw them take the lead 58-57 with 4:03 remaining.
With 3:18 left the Gryphons took the lead again, extending it to four, but again the Royals came back and with 1:53 left it was tied 61-61.
They took the lead 62-61 before Kendra MacKinnon of the North Nova Gryphons hit a three with 1:04 left to go ahead by two.
Meghan Moran-MacDonald answered with her own three to take a 65-64 lead.
Again MacKinnon answered to go ahead by one, but a three by Moran-MacDonald sealed the Royals win 68-66.
MacKinnon led the Gryphons with 31 points, while Moran-MacDonald led the Royals with 24.
Jamie McCarron added 10 for the Gryphons, while Meredith Hynes chipped in six and Shalena Floyd, Natalie Addison and Caitrin Skelton scored four points apiece.
Sarah McCarron also chipped in 15 for J.H. Gillis.
