NEW GLASGOW - Members of the Pictou County Rugby Club teamed up with Highland Ford and held the “Fill the Ford” Food Drive at the Westside Sobeys on Saturday.

Although the temperatures dipped to almost -20, the members of the rugby club held strong until they reached their goal of filling the back of a Ford F-150 with food donations for the Pictou County Food Bank. Even with the temperatures well below freezing, the hearts of Pictou County remained warm, and the goal of filling the truck was completed in just over two hours.

“I think it says a lot about the kind of people that we have here in Pictou County, just over two hours and the truck is full, and we are also going to be making a monetary contribution to the food bank as well,” said Graham Hayden, a member of the rugby club and organizer of the “Fill the Ford” Food Drive.

Through the generosity of the people of Pictou County, the Pictou County Rugby Club was able to make a sizable donation of food and $500 to the Pictou County Food Bank.
